Mt. Coronet (Japanese: テンガンざん Mt. Tengan) is the highest mountain in the Sinnoh region, part of a long mountain range that divides the region in half. Most of it is a deep cave, though there are several above-ground areas in which it snows constantly.
Mount Coronet (Japanese: テンガン山 Mount Tengan), formatted as Mt. Coronet prior to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, is the highest mountain in the Sinnoh region, part of a long mountain range that divides the region in half. Most of it is a deep cave, though there are several above-ground areas in which it snows constantly.

The cave that winds through the mountain is apparently man-made, as bridges run through it, though the higher one climbs, the more rugged it becomes. As a centerpiece of the region, the cave connects Oreburgh City, Eterna City, Hearthome City, Celestic Town, and Snowpoint City via Routes 207, 208, 211, 216, and 217. To fully navigate the mountain's caves, Surf, Strength, Defog, Rock Smash, Rock Climb, and Waterfall are required.

According to legend, Mt. Coronet is where the Sinnoh region began. Arceus created Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina at Spear Pillar, as well as the Adamant, Lustrous, and Griseous Orbs, then fell into an unending sleep on the highest point of the mountain.

Mount Coronet has a special magnetic field that causes Magneton and Nosepass to evolve into Magnezone and Probopass, respectively, when leveled up here. This can still occur at the Spear Pillar and Hall of Origin.

In the Hisui region, the area of the mountain is known as the Coronet Highlands.

Mount Coronet stands in the center of Sinnoh, extending from the northern wilderness to the southern tip of the region, splitting it into two halves. It is best defined as a mountain range, with the highest peak shrouded in legend. It is presently the highest known mountain in the entire Pokémon world. Situated atop the peak is the Spear Pillar, the ruins of an ancient temple formerly known as the Temple of Sinnoh, with several of its pillars still standing, all pointing skyward. The legend of the Pokémon of Myth is deeply connected to the mountain, as is the plot of Team Galactic. A stained glass window in the Hearthome City in Hearthome City depicts the mountain with a bright shine, representing the Spear Pillar and possibly depicting the creation of Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. Its place in Sinnoh has caused variation in the species of Shellos and Gastrodon, which have different coloration depending on the side of Sinnoh they are native to.
Mt. Coronet stands in the middle of Sinnoh, extending from the northern wilderness to the southern tip of the region, splitting it into two halves. The southern portion of Mount Coronet's 1F leads between 207 and 208 and features several elevated rock formations as well as several pools of water. It is here where the player will first meet Cyrus in Diamond and Pearl, and meet him for the third time in Platinum. It is a simple cavern that requires no HMs to pass through. However, to ascend the mountain, the player must use Surf and Rock Climb here and navigate the increasingly complex 2F and 3F. A cave painting of the lake guardians, similar to the one in Celestic Town, blocks the way to 3F until Team Galactic is defeated in Team Galactic HQ in Veilstone City. Eventually the player will make their way outside of the snowy mountain. This outer area features constant snowfall, much like Routes 216 and 217, as well as many hardy Pokémon adapted to living in this harsh environment. The way to Spear Pillar goes through 4F, back outside, into 4F, and finally up 5F and 6F.

The northern portion of 1F is vastly different from the southern cavern, with no pools of water on the ground floor, and requiring Rock Smash and Strength to navigate between the two halves of 211 and toward 216. In Platinum, until the player defeats Mars at Lake Verity, two Team Galactic Grunt block the way north. After the Grunts leave, this cavern leads further to B1F, an area blanketed in a dense fog where a large underground lake is located. This lake is the only place that Feebas is available in Sinnoh, though like in Hoenn, it is found only in specific tiles on any given day (see ). At the north end of this area is a way back up to Mount Coronet's northernmost cave, upper 1F, leading out toward Route 216, and in Platinum, where the Iceberg Ruins is located.

The upper caverns are increasingly complex areas, though eventually the player will make his or her way outside of the mountain, into its snowy peaks. This outer area features constant hail, much like Routes 216 and 217, as well as many hardy Pokémon adapted to living in this harsh environment. A cave painting of the lake guardians blocks the way to the upper caverns in Platinum, however, in Diamond and Pearl, even before Team Galactic is defeated in their Veilstone headquarters, the caves can be navigated up to Spear Pillar.

Spear Pillar is located on the highest peak of Mt. Coronet, the highest point in Sinnoh. It is home to ruins that have been worn down over time, stated by legend to be the place where Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina were created by Arceus. It is here that Cyrus summons both Dialga and Palkia with the Red Chain, though when their proximity to each other causes an imbalance in the structure of reality, Giratina arrives to whisk Cyrus away to prevent further damage.

In Platinum, the Iceberg Ruins appear near Mt. Coronet's exit onto Route 216. If the event Regigigas is not with the player, a type-enhancing item will be found in its cavern instead.

Finding Feebas
Feebas are elusive in Mount Coronet, similar to  119 in Hoenn. Instead of being found in any fishing location as would be customary with most Pokémon, Feebas are located in only four random water tiles in B1F (the foggy floor with the lake leading to 216). Of the total 528 fishable tiles, one Feebas tile is located within each 132 tiles (counted left-to-right then top-to-bottom). Adding to the difficulty, other Pokémon besides Feebas will still appear in the Feebas tiles as well. In Generation IV, there is no known easy method to determine which tiles contain Feebas: the only way is to fish repeatedly in each and every water tile in B1F, doing so enough times to be reasonably confident that no Feebas are in that tile (or else risk missing a Feebas tile). If the player reels in one Pokémon in every tile, there is a 1 in 16 (approximately 6%) chance they will pass over all four Feebas tiles without reeling in a single Feebas. By record mixing, all players' four tiles will change to the same four tiles as player one. Any Rod can find Feebas. Once hooked, Feebas is fairly easy to catch, with a catch rate of 255, and they can be fished from the same tile many times. The locations of the four tiles change every day. In Generation VIII, the RNG can be exploited by an external tool to locate Feebas tiles based on the daily Loto Ticket number.

Despite needing to be ventured through to arrive in Hearthome City in the games, Ash and his friends were not shown taking this route through the mountain's caves. In Nosing 'Round The Mountain!, a boy asks Ash for a battle near the mountain, however, so that his Nosepass will evolve. In many other episodes, the mountain can be seen in the background scenery.
Ill-Will Hunting! took place around the mountain, as Ash and ashfr were passing by on their way to Hearthome City. Unlike in the games, they were not seen passing through any underground caves.

In Nosing 'Round The Mountain!, Alan asked Ash for a battle near the mountain, so that his Nosepass could evolve. In many other Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl episodes, the mountain could be seen in the background scenery.

In Steeling Peace of Mind! and Saving the World From Ruins!, Team Galactic fired a beam from Iron Island at the mountain in an attempt to locate the Spear Pillar. Ash battled Mars, defeating her and destroying the machine that created the beam, leaving Team Galactic's scan of the mountain only 60% complete.

Mount Coronet appeared again in Unlocking the Red Chain of Events! and The Battle Finale of Legend!. Saturn discovered the entryway to the Spear Pillar and was soon joined by Cyrus, Mars, Jupiter, and Charon for the trip inside.

Ash and Goh traveled to Mount Coronet in Leaping Toward the Dream!. There, Goh was assigned with his qualification mission for Project Mew, which was to caught an Alolan Ninetales that had wound up there after being forcibly taken from its home by Pokémon poachers and lost by them as their plane crashed. Along the way, they encountered Quillon, a member of Project Mew, and a Regice. Eventually, Goh was able to catch Ninetales and complete his mission, qualifying him as a Project Mew challenger. The Regice encountered here was later caught by Quillon sometime before Chasing to the Finish!.

An multiverse's Mount Coronet briefly appeared in Showdown at the Gates of Warp! as the location of that world's Spear Pillar.

Mount Coronet played a notable role during Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles, where Team Galactic's plans to bring back Cyrus resulted in a Heatran going on a rampage at the mountain and threatening the entire Sinnoh region. With the help of Arceus, the lake guardians, and Cynthia, Ash and his friends were able to stop Heatran and Team Galactic.

In the anime, the Team Galactic HQ is located somewhere on Mount Coronet, as opposed to Veilstone City, like in the games.

Pokémon Adventures
In Pokémon Adventures, the summit of Mount Coronet is the destination to which all heirs and heiresses of the Berlitz family head to excavate the materials for the family emblem as a family tradition.

Diamond & Pearl
Platinum began her journey towards Mount Coronet at the beginning of the arc. She was intended to be accompanied by bodyguards Paka and Uji, but due to a misunderstanding, Diamond and Pearl ended up accompanying her instead. They first arrived at Mount Coronet in Passing by Probopass and Maneuvering around Magnezone, although the path they took couldn't take them to the summit, where they were headed. Cyrus, who was also inside the cave the three Pokédex holders were passing through, considered them disturbing the mountain and sent his Nosepass and Magneton to attack them, with the two Pokémon evolving into Probopass and Magnezone, respectively, thanks to the mountain's influence, before using Rock Slide on the three Trainers. The trio survived, however, and later exited Mount Coronet on 208.

The climax of the arc, starting from Creeping Away from Cradily, took place at the Spear Pillar on the summit of Mount Coronet. Once Cyrus's plans had been stopped in Double Trouble with Dialga and Palkia VI, Platinum was able to complete her quest by assembling her family emblem.

Mount Coronet first appeared in Beauty Contest: The Pokémon Super Contest!!, where Hareta and Mitsumi passed through it on their way to Hearthome City.

In The Advent of the Legendary Pokémon!!, Hareta and Jun headed to Mount Coronet to stop Team Galactic's plans. When Jun's Dragonite was brought down by the shockwaves of Cyrus opening a portal in space-time to summon Dialga, Jun stayed behind to battle Jupiter, while Hareta headed off to the Spear Pillar, defeating Mars along the way to get there.

In Steeling Peace of Mind! and Saving the World From Ruins!, Team Galactic fires a beam from Iron Island at the mountain in an attempt to locate Spear Pillar. Mt. Coronet is named after a coronet, a small crown consisting of ornaments fixed on a metal ring, as the mountain itself is the "crown" of Sinnoh. "Mt. Tengan" may come from ten and 冠 kan, meaning "sky" and "crown" respectively, considering the mountain's connection to Arceus.

Pokémon world locations

Mount Coronet (Japanese: テンガン Mount Tengan), formatted as Mt. Coronet prior to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, is the highest mountain in the Sinnoh region, part of a long mountain range that divides the region in half. Most of it is a deep cave, though there are several above-ground areas in which it snows constantly.

The cave that winds through the mountain is apparently man-made, as bridges run through it; though the higher one climbs, the more rugged it becomes.

According to legend, Mount Coronet is where the Sinnoh region began. Arceus created Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina at the Spear Pillar, as well as the Adamant, Lustrous, and Griseous Orbs, then fell into an unending sleep on the highest point of the mountain.

Geography

Mount Coronet with the Distortion World above

A stained glass window in the Foreign Building in Hearthome City depicts the mountain with a bright shine, representing the Spear Pillar and possibly depicting the creation of Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. Its place in Sinnoh has caused variation in the species of Shellos and Gastrodon, which have different coloration depending on the side of Sinnoh they are native to.

The southern portion of Mount Coronet's 1F leads between Route 207 and Route 208 and features several elevated rock formations as well as several pools of water. It is here where the player will first meet Cyrus in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, and meet him for the third time in Pokémon Platinum.

The northern portion of 1F is vastly different from the southern cavern, with no pools of water on the ground floor, and requiring Rock Smash and Strength to navigate between the two halves of Route 211 and toward Route 216. In Platinum, until the player defeats Mars at Lake Verity, two Galactic Grunts block the way north. After the Grunts leave, this cavern leads further to B1F, an area blanketed in a dense fog where a large underground lake is located. This lake is the only place that Feebas is available in Sinnoh, though like in Hoenn, it is found only in specific tiles on any given day (see Finding Feebas). At the north end of this area is a way back up to Mount Coronet's northernmost cave, upper 1F, leading out toward Route 216, and in Platinum, where the Iceberg Ruins is located.

Art of Mount Coronet in the distant past from Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Spear Pillar

Main article: Spear Pillar

The Spear Pillar, once known as the Temple of Sinnoh, is located on the highest peak of Mount Coronet, the highest point in Sinnoh. It's home to the ruins of the ancient Temple of Sinnoh, stated by legend to be the place where Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina were created by Arceus. It is here that Cyrus summons both Dialga and Palkia with the Red Chain, though when their proximity to each other causes an imbalance in the structure of reality, Giratina arrives to whisk Cyrus away to prevent further damage.

If an Azure Flute is obtained from a special Nintendo eventDPPt/there is save data for all 27 completed Pokémon Legends: Arceus missions,BDSP a staircase can be opened on the Spear Pillar to the Hall of Origin where Arceus waits. The battle begins as soon as the player steps onto the platform at the end of the staircase.

Iceberg Ruins

Main article: Iceberg Ruins (Sinnoh)

In Platinum, the Iceberg Ruins appear near Mount Coronet's exit onto Route 216. If the event Regigigas is not with the player, a NeverMeltIce will be found in its cavern instead.

Finding Feebas

Feebas are elusive in Mount Coronet, similar to Route 119 in Hoenn. Instead of being found in any fishing location as would be customary with most Pokémon, Feebas are located in only four random water tiles in B1F (the foggy floor with the lake leading to Route 216).

Mount Coronet in the anime

Ill-Will Hunting! took place around the mountain, as Ash and his friends were passing by on their way to Hearthome City.

There, Goh was assigned with his qualification mission for Project Mew, which was to catch an Alolan Ninetales that had wound up there after being forcibly taken from its home by Pokémon poachers and lost by them as their plane crashed.

An alternate world's Mount Coronet briefly appeared in Showdown at the Gates of Warp! as the location of that world's Spear Pillar.

In the manga

Pokémon Adventures

Mount Coronet in Pokémon Adventures

In Pokémon Adventures, the summit of Mount Coronet is the destination to which all heirs and heiresses of the Berlitz family head to excavate the materials for the family emblem as a family tradition.

Diamond & Pearl arc

Platinum Berlitz began her journey towards Mount Coronet at the beginning of the arc. The trio survived, however, and later exited Mount Coronet on Route 208.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure!

Trivia

Name origin

Mount Coronet is named after a coronet, a small crown consisting of ornaments fixed on a metal ring, as the mountain itself is the "crown" of Sinnoh.

Mt. Tengan is derived from 天冠 tengan (celestial crown). In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the name of the mountain is written fully in kanji as 天冠山 as it appears in a signpost on Route 206.
