Pokémon world locations |
The Battle Tower (Japanese: バトルタワー Battle Tower) is a battle facility in the Sinnoh and Johto regions. Palmer, Barry's father, is the Tower Tycoon here.
In the core series games
In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl and their remakes Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the Battle Tower is located in the Battle Park, while in Pokémon Platinum, it is in the Battle Frontier, but both of these locations are accessed from the Fight Area of the Battle Zone. The player cannot travel to the Battle Zone until they have entered the Hall of Fame.
In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, the Battle Tower is located in the Battle Frontier west of Olivine City. The player is not allowed to enter the Battle Frontier until they have entered the Hall of Fame.
In Generation IV, the Battle Towers in both regions are functionally identical.

In all Battle Tower challenges, the player enters a Battle Room with seven opponents, who the player must defeat all in a row. After beating a room, the player will earn Battle Points. The seventh and final opponent is considered the room's boss.
The middle receptionist offers the Battle Room challenge. The player may choose the Single Battle format, with battles of three on three, or the Double Battle format, with battles of four on four.
Generation IV
The leftmost receptionist offers the Multi Battle Room challenge, a tag team challenge. Before the challenge begins, the player may choose a computer-controlled partner from among the five Stat Trainers, each of whom specializes in a different stat; or the player may partner with a nearby friend using the DS Wireless Communication.
The rightmost receptionist offers the Wi-Fi Battle Room challenge. In this challenge, opposing teams are randomly downloaded via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection from other players who challenged the Wi-Fi Battle Room. In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the rightmost receptionist instead offers the Master Class Battle Room challenges, which is unlocked after achieving a 49-win streak in either of the Battle Rooms.
When the player finishes a room, they can choose to upload their results via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. The Wi-Fi Battle Rooms are operated on a ranking system, and if the player does well enough, they can become the leader of a room.
Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum
In Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, each of the Star Trainers also appears outside of the Battle Tower in Sinnoh and will temporarily partner with the player to navigate an area. In order for the player to choose one of them as a partner in the Battle Tower, they must have already partnered with that person and cleared their area.
Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver
In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, the five Stat Trainers are all always available as computer-controlled partners.
Generation VIII
In this generation, the player is allowed to take breaks until the fifth battle. The Multi Battle Room challenge and the Wi-Fi Battle Room challenge from the earlier games are not available.
Master Class
This section is incomplete. Please feel free to edit this section to add missing information and complete it. Reason: Rewards for rank-up and cumulative wins; boss Trainers |
In this generation, the Master Class is available for both Single Battles and Double Battles. Opponents in Master Class are more challenging and typically use fully evolved Pokémon. In Master Class Double Battles, the player will face two Trainers at a time in a Multi Battle. The player uses four Pokémon while the opposing pair uses two each.
In Master Class challenges, the player is also assigned a rank, starting from Rank 1. Rank goes up by one for successfully completing a full set, up to Rank 10. If the player repeatedly loses a challenge too many times, the rank will go down by one. The rank determines the boss Trainer that the player will face in the seventh battle, and it does not affect the difficulty of the preceding six battles. The BP reward for completing a challenge also increases with rank.

In the anime
Main series
The Battle Tower was mentioned in Challenging a Towering Figure!, where Barry introduced his father, Palmer, as its leader to Ash and his friends.
Pokémon Evolutions
The Battle Tower appeared in The Rival, where Barry challenged his father there, eventually emerging victorious.
In the manga
Pokémon Adventures
Platinum arc
The Battle Tower first appeared in Deprogramming Porygon-Z as a part of the Battle Frontier. By the end of the arc, it remained the only Battle Frontier facility yet to be challenged by Platinum, although she was seen accepting Palmer's invitation to face him there in The Final Dimensional Duel XI.
Trivia
- Although the sprites for the attendants of the Battle Tower in Pokémon Platinum had been changed to match the rest of the Battle Frontier, while choosing a partner for a Multi Battle, the attendant's sprite was accidentally left unchanged from what it was in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. The same applies for when an attendant appears to award a trophy.
