Along with the World Pokémon Ecological Society, he is known for his research on ecologically similar Pokémon.

In the core series games

Role

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Jacq is a biology teacher who works at Naranja AcademyS/Uva AcademyV. He is also the player's homeroom teacher, as well as the developer of the Pokédex app for the Rotom Phone. Although he is very well-versed in his field, he is somewhat airheaded, and is sometimes lost in his own research.[2]

Jacq also participates in the Academy Ace Tournament. Upon the player completing more and more of the Pokédex, he grants them various rewards, culminating in a Shiny Charm after the player has registered all 400 Pokémon entries.

The Teal Mask

Jacq is the teacher who informs the player they have been selected to attend the field trip to Kitakami. After the player begins their orienteering activities there, they can find Jacq at Reveler's Road, where he will invite them to a picnic and give them an Egg containing a random Sinnoh first partner Pokémon. Following that, he will remain at Reveler's Road, where he will volunteer to evaluate their Kitakami Pokédex and reward the player with a Glimmering Charm for completing it.

Other appearances

Jacq and Professor Willow discussed the Pokémon Gimmighoul in a promotional video for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, uploaded on November 6, 2022. Jacq was the one who named Gimmighoul's Chest Form.[3]

Appearance

Jacq is a tall man with light tan skin, platinum gray eyes, an average build, and hair with purple and lavender variations. He wears hexagonal glasses around his eyes. His attire features a white lab coat over a shirt with violet and magenta stripes, purple jogging pants, and white slippers with dark magenta straps.

Pokémon

Jacq will Terastallize his Farigiraf at the first opportunity.

In the manga

Pokémon Adventures

Jacq debuted in PASV01. He was first seen in the Uva Academy staff room, attacking someone he believed to be an intruder, only to find it was a student named Violet. Once the misunderstanding was cleared up, Violet's talking Rotom Phone, Rotojī, asked Jacq to install a Pokédex app onto it, which he accepted. Once Jacq found that Violet was looking through the student registry, he attempted to reprimand the boy, only for Violet to escape. Later, Clavell gathered Jacq and the other teachers in order to inform them of Violet's backstory and explain his behavior.

Jacq's Farigiraf
Debut PASV01

Farigiraf is Jacq's only known Pokémon. It was first used to keep Violet in place when Jacq mistook him for an intruder.

Farigiraf's only known move is Confusion.

In the TCG

Special illustration rare Jacq
Main article: Jacq (Scarlet & Violet 175)

Jacq was introduced as a Supporter card in the Pokémon Trading Card Game during the English Scarlet & Violet Series (the Japanese Scarlet & Violet Era). It was first released in the Japanese Scarlet ex expansion and the English Scarlet & Violet expansion, with artwork by GIDORA. An ultra rare print illustrated by the same artist, and a special illustration rare version of the card with artwork by Oswaldo KATO were released in the same sets. It lets players search their deck for up to two Evolution Pokémon, reveal them, and put them in their hand. Afterwards, the player shuffles their deck.

Trivia

  • Jacq was intended to speak in the World Pokémon Ecological Society mock seminar that showcased Wiglett, but he ran late and ended up unable to attend, according to an unnamed assistant. Despite this, Professor Willow mentions Jacq having spoken at the World Pokémon Ecological Society conference.[4]
  • In a prior version of Scarlet or Violet, if the gift Riolu hatched from the Egg from Riley is transferred from Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl to Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, the game will state it was received from Jacq.
