Johanna (Japanese: アヤコ Ayako) is the mother of the player character in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. In the anime, she is the mother of Dawn.
In the games
Unlike previous mothers, Johanna is less content to stay at home. After the player begins their journey, she can be found at the Contest Hall and occasionally enters Super Contests with her Glameow or kangaskan
In the anime
Johanna first appeared in Following a Maiden Voyage. She is voiced by 津村まこと Tsumura Makoto in the Japanese version and Hilary Thomas in the English dub.
She used to be a great Pokémon coordinator and is a former winner of the Grand Festival. Dawn wants to follow in her footsteps and become a great coordinator as well. When Dawn leaves, Johanna gives her one of her old ribbons.
