Professor Amaranth (Japanese: ホダカ博士 Dr. Hodaka) is a recurring character in Pokémon Journeys: The Series. He is in charge of Project Mew.
In the anime
Professor Amaranth first appeared in Leaping Toward the Dream!, when he greeted Goh and Ash as they arrived at his craft. After filling them in on what Project Mew was about, Professor Amaranth assigned them the task of capturing an Alolan Ninetales that could be found on Mount Coronet. Professor Amaranth reappeared once Goh has completed his mission and promised to return it to its home.
In Trial on a Golden Scale!, Professor Amaranth appeared to greet Goh and Ash after they helped Danika and Quillon deal with a group of Pokémon Hunters led by Nito. Amaranth also assured Goh that the poacher's Pokémon will be rescued and returned to their natural habitat.
