Johanna (Japanese: アヤコ Ayako) is the mother of the player character in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. In the anime, she is the mother of Dawn.
In the games
Unlike previous mothers, Johanna is less content to stay at home. After the player begins their journey, she can be found at the Contest Hall and occasionally enters Super Contests with her Kangaskhan.
She seems to be friend of the judge Keira, considering their chat.

In the anime
Johanna made her debut appearance in the anime in Following a Maiden Voyage. She is voiced by 津村まこと Makoto Tsumura in the Japanese version and Sarah Natochenny in the English dub. Internationally, she is played by Denise Reis in the Brazilian dub.
She used to be a great Pokémon Coordinator and is also a former winner of the Grand Festival. Dawn wanted to follow in her footsteps and become a great coordinator as well. When Dawn left on her journey, Johanna gave her one of her old ribbons.
In The Bells are Singing!, it was revealed that she sewed Buneary's vest.
As a young girl, she was shown participating in a Contest in a flashback in DP095 against her childhood rival, Yuri.
