Description Rumored to be descended from an ancient Alolan dynasty, this Ghost-type Pokémon user serves as one of the Alola region's Elite Four.

Acerola (Japanese: アセロラ Acerola) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. She forms a sync pair with Palossand. The sync pair is obtained during the events of Chapter 17 of the PML Arc. The pair's potential can be upgraded to 6★ EX from January 25, 2024, which unlocks Acerola's EX style.

Acerola in her Fall 2020 attire forms a sync pair with Mimikyu. This pair was first made available through a limited seasonal sync pair scout on October 15, 2020. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX since it first released.

Trivia

  • Acerola is the only Alola Elite Four member that does not form a Physical Strike sync pair.
  • All versions of Acerola use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon). Those Trainers include Lillie, Sophocles, Olivia, Nanu, Kahili, and Molayne.
  • Acerola is the only character available in the Trainer Lodge whose lodge pair could be upgraded to 6★ EX before the original pair.
  • Acerola & Palossand were the last 5★ sync pair to retroactively receive an EX style, aside from those obtained by exchanging a BP Sync Pair Super Voucher.
    • This gives them the largest gap of any initial 5★ character between their release and their gaining the ability to be raised to 6★ EX, at 1611 days. They have been playable since the game was released (on August 29, 2019), and they received their EX style on January 25, 2024.
  • According to Nanu, Acerola's Tapu Bulu is not the Ula'ula Island guardian that he knows. Olivia theorizes that it came from an Ultra Wormhole.

Origin

Acerola's design is based on her appearance in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon. Palossand is Acerola's signature Pokémon in the core series games. Palossand's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.

Acerola uses a Banette when battling her in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Banette's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.

While Acerola is not seen using a Mimikyu in the core series games, it is the Totem Pokémon of her island challenge trial, and she owns a Shiny one nicknamed Mimikins in the anime. Mimikyu's Dex entries come from Pokémon Ultra Sun.

Acerola is not seen owning a Tapu Bulu outside this game, though it is the guardian deity of Ula'ula Island, which is Acerola's home island. Tapu Bulu's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.

Acerola is not seen owning a Jellicent outside this game. Jellicent's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
