Trivia
Trivia
* In HeartGold and SoulSilver, Rock Climb can be obtained and used as an HM, after Viridian City Gym Leader Blue has been defeated, despite the fact it did not appear in the Generation II version of the games. This makes Rock Climb the first HM that requires a Gym Badge outside of the starting region in order to be used.
* Rock Climb was the last HM move to be introduced.
* In Platinum, Maylene tells the player that Rock- and Fightings can learn Rock Climb. Yet, there are many non-Rock and non-Fighting types that can learn it, and several Rock- or Fighting-types that cannot.
* Some of the Pokémon that can learn Rock Climb, such as Cubone, appear to lack the physique required to climb walls while carrying a human.
* Despite being Normal no Normal-type Pokémon can learn Rock Climb by level up in Generation V.
* In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the Gligar and Zigzagoon evolutionary lines, as well as Bidoof, cannot learn Rock Climb, despite being able to learn this move by breeding in previous generations.
* Only Generation V Pokémon can  learn this move by level up.
* Charizard is the only fully evolved starter Pokemon that cannot learn Rock Climb via the HM in Generation IV.

Trivia

 • Rock Climb was the last HM move to be introduced.
 • Some of the Pokémon that can learn Rock Climb, such as Cubone, appear to lack the physique required to climb walls while carrying a human.
 • In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the Gligar and Zigzagoon evolutionary lines, as well as Bidoof, cannot learn Rock Climb, despite being able to learn this move by breeding in previous generations.
