Description	Sonia is a new professor researching the legends of Galar and has already published a book with her findings. She’s adventure buddies and childhood friends with Leon.

Sonia (Japanese: ソニア Sonia) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. She forms a sync pair with Yamper. She was first introduced in the story event Winter Wishes. The sync pair can be obtained through the sync pair scout from December 23, 2021. The pair's potential can be upgraded to 6★ EX from the time the pair was first released, which unlocks Sonia's EX Style.

Sonia is also available in her special costume, partnered alongside Shiny Tsareena. The sync pair can be obtained through a limited sync pair scout and was first available on April 7, 2022. The pair's potential can be upgraded to 6★ EX from when the pair was first released.

Yamper

Raising this sync pair to 6★ EX will unlock Song Key 08004, which allows "Battle! (Sonia) (Pokémon Masters EX Version)" to be played in the Jukebox.

• Sonia shares her Japanese voice actor, Lynn, with her counterpart from the Pokémon: Twilight Wings miniseries.
• Since version 2.19.0, all versions of Sonia share:
  • One unique voiced line upon entering a team that contains Gloria, Leon, Hop, Nessa, or Professor Oak—one line for each Trainer. If two are present upon Sonia's entry, then she uses one special line at random. This voice-over always takes priority over Sonia's usual entry line.
    • Nessa and Leon each also have one such quote if they enter Sonia's team, but they don't have such lines for each other.
  • One conversion with either Nessa or Leon after one of them wins a battle with her. If all three win a battle together, then one two-person dialogue that includes Sonia is chosen randomly. This conversation always overrides the center trainer's victory quote, even if they're excluded from the chat. Leon and Nessa lack such an exchange with each other.
• Ignoring Scottie and Bettie, Sonia is one of only four Trainers to form a sync pair with a Shiny Pokémon. The others are Steven, Morty, and Hilda.

Origin

Sonia's design is based on her appearance in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Yamper is Sonia's only known Pokémon in the core series games. Yamper's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Sword.

Sonia's Special Costume design was inspired by Queen of Hearts from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Sonia does not own a Tsareena outside this game. Tsareena's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.
