Snatch (Japanese: よこどり Snatch) is a non-damaging Dark-type move introduced in Generation III. It was TM49 from Generation III to Generation IV.
Effect
Generations III-V
Snatch is an increased priority move. After being used, if another Pokémon uses a susceptible status move, the Pokémon that used Snatch steals the move and applies its effect to itself instead of the move's original user. Susceptible moves include those that increase stats (such as Swords Dance and Calm Mind) and those that heal the user (such as Synthesis), as well as Substitute.
Snatch will steal the first susceptible move that is used by any other Pokémon in the same turn (including an ally). If more than one Pokémon have used Snatch, the fastest Pokémon's Snatch will activate first, and slower Snatches will activate in response to the stolen move to steal it from the faster user instead; in other words, only the slowest user of Snatch will receive a stolen effect in the end.
Generation VI onward
If more than one Pokémon use Snatch, the faster Pokémon will now receive the effects of the first susceptible move, while slower Pokémon's Snatches will remain active to steal the next susceptible move or moves used on that turn.
Snatch cannot steal Z-Moves, even if it could normally steal their base move.
If powered up by a Darkinium Z into Z-Snatch, the user's Speed stat rises two stages.
Affected moves
The following moves can be stolen by Snatch:
