Description | This pioneering Pokémon Professor was an accomplished Trainer in his heyday and has since become an authority on Pokémon research. He is also Blue's grandfather. |
Professor Oak (Japanese: オーキド Ohkido) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. He forms a sync pair with Mew. This sync pair was first made available on February 14, 2020. The pair's potential can be upgraded to 6★ EX from August 25, 2024, which unlocks Professor Oak's EX style.
Professor Oak also forms a sync pair with Nidorino. This pair can be obtained through a special sync pair event beginning on August 18, 2024. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX since it first released, though this pair lacks an EX style.

Trivia
- Professor Oak's sync pair story references the game intro of Pokémon Red, Green, FireRed, and LeafGreen when his Nidorino battles against Agatha's Gengar. This same reference is repeated during a flashback scene in Professor Oak & Nidorino's special sync pair event.
- Professor Oak was the first character in Pokémon Masters EX to form a sync pair with a Mythical Pokémon.
- After using their sync move, Professor Oak & Mew become the only sync pair to have four attack moves at the same time.
- Professor Oak & Mew are the first sync pair with a passive skill that is named after the Trainer.
Origin
Professor Oak's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. While Professor Oak is not shown owning a Mew outside this game, it is a Mythical Pokémon that was introduced in Generation I, as Professor Oak himself was. Mew's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.
Professor Oak depicts a Nidorino during his introductory lecture in the Generation I core series games (excluding Pokémon Yellow). Nidorino's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.
