Description | A stoic Trainer in pursuit of strength, he conceals his burning desire to grow stronger and plays it cool outwardly. |
Calem (Japanese: カルム Calme) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. He forms a sync pair with Espurr and its evolved form, Meowstic. The sync pair can be obtained during the events of Chapter 20 of the Main Story. This pair could be raised to 6★ EX beginning on March 25, 2022.
Calem also appears in his Neo Champion attire, partnered with his Shiny Greninja. This pair is available through a limited Master Fair sync pair scout beginning on December 2, 2022. This pair could be raised to 6★ EX since its release.
Calem also forms a sync pair with his Fennekin. This pair can be obtained by reaching Friendship Level 100 with Calem in the Trainer Lodge beginning on August 1, 2023. This pair can be raised to 6★ EX since it first released, though this pair lacks an EX style.
Espurr → Meowstic
Espurr can evolve into Meowstic once it has reached level 30 through its Sync Pair Story Espurr's Evolution.

Trivia
- Calem is based on the rival in the Kalos-based games, as Serena says he's her neighbor who taught her about being a Trainer. In addition, he appears during the story event Revel in Rivalry and the special event Rival Challenge, two events in which the only characters who appear are rivals from the core series games.
- All versions of Calem use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon). Those Trainers include Serena, Shauna, Korrina, Diantha, and Professor Sycamore.
- Calem also uses special voice-over lines upon winning a battle with Serena, Shauna, Korrina, or Diantha in the same team.
- Calem (Champion) & Greninja and Sygna Suit Korrina & Marshadow are the only sync pairs from Kalos able to raise all their allies' critical-hit rates.
- Calem (Champion) & Greninja are also the only support sync pair from Kalos able to raise all their allies' critical-hit rates.
- In his Champion outfit's sync pair story, Calem reveals he met Greninja as a Froakie soon after departing on his journey.
Origin
Calem's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon X and Y. Espurr and Meowstic are Pokémon that Calem uses as the rival character in the Kalos-based core series games. Espurr and Meowstic's Dex entries come from Pokémon X.
Fennekin is one of the starter Pokémon of Kalos in the core series games. As the rival character, Fennekin and its evolutions are Calem's signature Pokémon if the player chooses Chespin as their starter in the Kalos-based core series games. Fennekin's Dex entry comes from Pokémon X.
Greninja is the final evolution of Froakie, one of the starter Pokémon of Kalos in the core series games. As the rival character, Greninja is Calem's signature Pokémon if the player chooses Fennekin as their starter in the Kalos-based core series games. In addition, Calem's Pokémon Adventures counterpart temporarily uses Y's Greninja during the manga. Greninja's Dex entry comes from Pokémon X.
