Effect

Bug Buzz does damage and has a 10% chance of lowering the target's Special Defense by one stage.

Bug Buzz is a sound-based move.

Generation IV-V

If used on a Pokémon behind a substitute, it hits that Pokémon's substitute.

Generation VI onwards

Bug Buzz can now hit Pokémon even if they are behind a substitute.

• Bug Buzz is the only Bug-type sound-based move.
• Despite the descriptions of this move stating that the usage of wings is required, Pokémon that lack wings can still learn this attack.
  • However, in Generation IV, when this move was first introduced, all Pokémon that could learn this move did have wings.
