A Dynamax Adventure (Japanese: ダイマックスアドベンチャー Daimax Adventure) is a gauntlet of Max Raid Battles in the Max Lair. Dynamax Adventures were introduced in The Crown Tundra of the Pokémon Sword and Shield Expansion Pass.
In the games
The player can form a team of four with either other players or NPC Trainers. The game is saved before each Dynamax Adventure, after which the participants each choose a rental Pokémon from a selection of three to start the adventure with. During the Adventure, the team will make their way through a series of Max Raid Battles to reach the special Pokémon at the end. These are Legendary Pokémon, and after the player has found Legendary Clue? and shown it to Peony, may also include Ultra Beasts. Every Pokémon defeated during a Dynamax Adventure can be caught without fail, but only one Pokémon can be kept from each adventure.
A Dynamax Adventure consists of three Max Raid Battles with regular Pokémon before a final battle with the den's special Pokémon. Any Pokémon battled along the way may replace a player's current Pokémon. Before each battle, the player(s) must choose which Pokémon to battle. Along certain paths, they can encounter either a scientist, who will swap one Pokémon from the party with another rental Pokémon; a Backpacker, who offers held items for use; or Berries, which restore 50% of all participant Pokémon's HP.
After each Dynamax Adventure, the player is rewarded with an amount of Dynite Ore dependant on four factors;
- How far they progressed (one Dynite Ore for each Pokémon defeated, plus an additional two Ores for defeating the special Pokémon)
- Whether or not a party Pokémon fainted (two Dynite Ores)
- Whether or not the player connected online (two Dynite Ores)
- Whether or not the player caught the special Pokémon (three Dynite Ores)
Shiny Pokémon found during Dynamax Adventures do not appear as Shiny until the Adventure is over. However, unlike other shiny encounters, the game has a chance to force the Pokémon to be shiny. This means that if one player's Pokémon is shiny, another's may not. Each Pokémon during a Dynamax Adventure has a 1 in 300 chance to be Shiny. Additionally, if the player has the Shiny Charm, the odds are increased to 1 in 100. Shiny Pokémon found in Dynamax Adventures always have star sparkles.
Should the player fail to defeat a special Pokémon or choose not to catch it, the scientist will offer to jot down its location. This way, the player can later embark on a Dynamax Adventure where said Pokémon is guaranteed to be at the end. Up to three special Pokémon locations can be noted at one time; if the player wishes to save the location of a fourth special Pokémon, they will need to delete one of their existing notes. Once the Pokémon is captured and kept, its location can be saved for future Dynamax Adventures, but the player will not be able to capture it again.
Endless Dynamax Adventures
After starting the They Came From The Ultra Beyond! adventure, if the player has completed three Dynamax Adventures, they can unlock the Endless Dynamax Adventure (Japanese: 無限ダイマックスアドベンチャー Endless Daimax Adventure). This functions similarly to the regular Dynamax Adventure, except that the player does not leave the den until they are wiped out. The player also may not keep any Pokémon caught in an Endless Dynamax Adventure, but they receive a larger supply of Dynite Ore as a reward.

Trivia
- Klang and Klinklang are the only rentable Pokémon to use a move twice as an opponent.
- The middle and final stages of the three starter Pokémon from Hoenn are available to rent and catch in Dynamax Adventures; these Pokémon are the only Pokémon that are exclusive to Dynamax Adventures that are not special Pokémon.
