History
Red has experienced similar events to his core series counterpart as the player character. Red received his first partner Pokémon, Charmander, from Professor Oak and left Pallet Town at the same time as Blue and Leaf, forming a rivalry with Blue. While on his journey, Red caught a Red in Viridian Forest, who would go on to battle Brock's Brock, defeat Misty's Water Pokémon, and battle Lt. Surge's Lt. Surge. Red also battle and caught a Snorlax that was blocking his path after he woke him up with the Poké Flute. While near Fuchsia City, Red saw Articuno in the binoculars and eventually caught it in the Seafoam Islands. After collecting Gym Badges and single-handedly disbanding Team Rocket, Red challenged the Indigo League. After defeating the Elite Four, Red battled the newest Champion of Kanto, Blue, and claimed the title of Champion. Red traveled through the Sevii Islands, where he met a man who gave him a Nugget. At some point, Red caught a Venusaur and also saw a Suicune in Kanto.

Trivia
Trivia
* Though Red is depicted mostly as silent in Pokémon Masters EX, he speaks a single line in his Sync Pair Story: "… … … … … … Words are unnecessary!"
* Red is based on the player character of the Kanto-based games, as he was the Champion of Kanto, and he was the one who defeated Team Rocket back in Kanto. His rival is Blue, as Blue has the first partner Pokémon with a type advantage over Red's first partner Pokémon.
* The color palette of Red's EX Style outfit is likely a reference to Mega Charizard.
* Red is indirectly responsible for the creation of the Pokémon Masters League, as him defeating Lear before the events of the game was what inspired Lear to create Pasio and the PML in order to get another chance at beating him.
* Red is the only character based on a core series player character to be a Champion, as it is unconfirmed if any of the other characters based on the player characters have won their respective region's League.
* Red is depicted mostly as silent in Pokémon Masters EX; across all his lines of dialogue, he speaks a total of seven lines out loud and two lines of inner monologue.
* The English names of Sygna Suit Red & Charizard and Red & Snorlax's Trainer moves are possible references to the lyrics of the Pokémon Theme.
* Sygna Suit Red & Charizard were the first fair-exclusive Fire sync pair.
* Excluding appearances in the Monthly Poké Fair Scout, Sygna Suit Red & Charizard have been featured in the most sync pair scouts out of all limited sync pairs, tied with Lance. They have both had an increased recruitment chance in nine different banners.
* Red & Snorlax were the first fair-exclusive Normal sync pair.
** Red and N are the only Trainers to form the first fair-exclusive sync pair for more than one type.
* Red is the first Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX to use both Mega Evolution and Dynamax.
* Red is the only Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX whose sygna suit variant was made available before their regular attire.
** Possibly for the same reason, Red is also the only Trainer whose battle music is unlocked in the Jukebox by raising their sygna suit variant to 6★ EX rather than their regular attire.
* In Red's sync pair story, Leaf says that Red's Snorlax is the same one he caught in Kanto.
* All versions of Red use special voice-over lines upon winning a battle in a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon). Those Trainers include Blue, Leaf, Elaine, Chase, Ethan, and Leon.
* In Kris's sygna suit's sync pair story, Leaf mentions that Red once saw a Suicune in Kanto, referencing the roaming Suicune that appears in FireRed and LeafGreen if the player's first partner Pokémon was Charmander.
* Sygna Suit Red (Thunderbolt) & Pikachu were the first Master Fair-exclusive sync pair capable of using max moves.
* In his thunderbolt sygna suit's sync pair story, it is revealed that Red caught his Pikachu in Viridian Forest.
** In the same sync pair story, it is also mentioned that Red used Pikachu in his Gym battles against Brock's Brock and Lt. Surge's Lt. Surge, which could be references to Ash using his own Pikachu against the same Pokémon in the anime.
* Red and Blue are the first characters to be both a Champion and a Neo Champion.
* In his champion outfit's sync pair story, it's revealed that Red saw Articuno in binoculars near Fuchsia City before catching it at Seafoam Islands, similar to the core series games.
* Red & Venusaur are the first sync pair exclusive to mix sync pair scouts. Consequentially, they are the first sync pair that can only be scouted using paid gems.
* Red was the first Trainer to form sync pairs with all five roles (counting EX roles), receiving the fifth—a Sprint EX role—on June 19, 2024.
** Not counting EX roles, Red has formed a sync pair of every role except Sprint.

Origin
Red is the final evolution of Charmander, one of the first partner Pokémon of Kanto in the core series games. Charizard is one of the Pokémon that Red typically uses as a non-player character in the core series games, with him Mega Evolving it in Sun and Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. In addition, Red's Origins and Pokémon Zensho counterparts have been depicted with Charizard, with the former being the first piece of media to show Charizard Mega Evolving into Mega Charizard X. Charizard's Dex entry comes from Ruby and Sapphire.

Red's design is based on his appearance in FireRed and LeafGreen. Snorlax is one of the Pokémon that Red typically uses as a non-player character in the core series. Red's Snorlax may be based on the two Snorlax barring the player's progress in the Kanto-based games. In addition, Red's Red and Red counterparts have been depicted with a Snorlax. Snorlax's Dex entry comes from Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Venusaur is the final evolution of Bulbasaur, one of the first partner Pokémon of Kanto in the core series games. Venusaur is one of the Pokémon that Red typically uses as a non-player character in the core series games, with it being his signature Pokémon in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!. In addition, Red's Pokémon Adventures counterpart owns a Venusaur, while his Generations counterpart is depicted with a Bulbasaur, the unevolved form of Venusaur. Venusaur's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

Red is the player's first Pokémon in Yellow. Pikachu would later act as Red's signature Pokémon as a non-player character in the core series games. Red is shown with a Gigantamax Pikachu in the Trading Card Game, with it being the first piece of media to depict Pikachu VMAX Gigantamaxing. In addition, Red's Pokémon Generations, and Pokémon Adventures counterparts have been depicted with a Pikachu. Pikachu's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.

Articuno is a Legendary Pokémon that can be caught at Seafoam Islands in the Kanto-based games. In addition, Red's Pokémon Origins counterpart is depicted with an Articuno, while his Pokémon Adventures counterpart temporarily uses Green's Legendary birds (Adventures) during the manga. Articuno's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

Description The silent type, this legendary, awesome Pokémon Trainer hardly talks at all. His best friend, Blue, is also his rival.

Red (Japanese: レッド Red) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series. In his sygna suit, he forms a sync pair with Charizard, which is capable of Mega Evolving. This sync pair was first made available on February 28, 2020. This pair can be raised to Masters EX star.png 6★ EX from August 28, 2020.

Reason: History & Role in Pokémon Masters EX

History

Red has experienced similar events to his core series counterpart as the player character. Red received his first partner Pokémon, Charmander, from Professor Oak and left Pallet Town at the same time as Blue and Leaf, forming a rivalry with Blue. While on his journey, Red caught a Pikachu in Viridian Forest,[3] who would go on to battle Brock's Onix,[4] defeat Misty's Water Pokémon,[5] and battle Lt. Surge's Raichu.[6] Red also battle and caught a Snorlax that was blocking his path after he woke him up with the Poké Flute.[7] While near Fuchsia City, Red saw Articuno in the binoculars and eventually caught it in the Seafoam Islands.[8] After collecting Gym Badges and single-handedly disbanding Team Rocket,[9] Red challenged the Indigo League. After defeating the Elite Four, Red battled the newest Champion of Kanto, Blue, and claimed the title of Champion.[10][11] Red traveled through the Sevii Islands, where he met a man who gave him a Nugget.[12] At some point, Red caught a Venusaur and also saw a Suicune in Kanto.[13]

After his journey in Kanto, Red traveled to Lear's kingdom, where he crushed Lear in a battle.

Trivia

  • Red is based on the player character of the Kanto-based games, as he was the Champion of Kanto, and he was the one who defeated Team Rocket back in Kanto. His rival is Blue, as Blue has the first partner Pokémon with a type advantage over Red's first partner Pokémon.
  • Red is indirectly responsible for the creation of the Pokémon Masters League, as him defeating Lear before the events of the game was what inspired Lear to create Pasio and the PML in order to get another chance at beating him.
  • Red is the only character based on a core series player character to be a Champion, as it is unconfirmed if any of the other characters based on the player characters have won their respective region's League.
  • Red is depicted mostly as silent in Pokémon Masters EX; across all his lines of dialogue, he speaks a total of seven lines out loud and two lines of inner monologue.
  • The English names of Sygna Suit Red & Charizard and Red & Snorlax's Trainer moves are possible references to the lyrics of the Pokémon Theme.
  • Sygna Suit Red & Charizard were the first fair-exclusive Fire-type sync pair.
  • Excluding appearances in the Monthly Poké Fair Scout, Sygna Suit Red & Charizard have been featured in the most sync pair scouts out of all limited sync pairs, tied with Lance & Dragonite. They have both had an increased recruitment chance in nine different banners.
  • Red & Snorlax were the first fair-exclusive Normal-type sync pair.
    • Red and N are the only Trainers to form the first fair-exclusive sync pair for more than one type.
  • Red is the first Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX to use both Mega Evolution and Dynamax.
  • Red is the only Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX whose sygna suit variant was made available before their regular attire.
    • Possibly for the same reason, Red is also the only Trainer whose battle music is unlocked in the Jukebox by raising their sygna suit variant to 6★ EX rather than their regular attire.
  • In Red's sync pair story, Leaf says that Red's Snorlax is the same one he caught in Kanto.[17]
  • All versions of Red use special voice-over lines upon winning a battle in a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon). Those Trainers include Blue, Leaf, Elaine, Chase, Ethan, and Leon.
  • In Kris's sygna suit's sync pair story, Leaf mentions that Red once saw a Suicune in Kanto, referencing the roaming Suicune that appears in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen if the player's first partner Pokémon was Charmander.
  • Sygna Suit Red (Thunderbolt) & Pikachu were the first Master Fair-exclusive sync pair capable of using max moves.
  • In his thunderbolt sygna suit's sync pair story, it is revealed that Red caught his Pikachu in Viridian Forest.
  • Red and Blue are the first characters to be both a Champion and a Neo Champion.
  • In his champion outfit's sync pair story, it's revealed that Red saw Articuno in binoculars near Fuchsia City before catching it at Seafoam Islands, similar to the core series games.
  • Red & Venusaur are the first sync pair exclusive to mix sync pair scouts. Consequentially, they are the first sync pair that can only be scouted using paid gems.
  • Red was the first Trainer to form sync pairs with all five roles (counting EX roles), receiving the fifth—a Sprint EX role—on June 19, 2024.
    • Not counting EX roles, Red has formed a sync pair of every role except Sprint.

Origin

Charizard is the final evolution of Charmander, one of the first partner Pokémon of Kanto in the core series games. Charizard is one of the Pokémon that Red typically uses as a non-player character in the core series games, with him Mega Evolving it in Pokémon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon. In addition, Red's Pokémon Origins and Pokémon Zensho counterparts have been depicted with Charizard, with the former being the first piece of media to show Charizard Mega Evolving into Mega Charizard X. Charizard's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

Red's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. Snorlax is one of the Pokémon that Red typically uses as a non-player character in the core series. Red's Snorlax may be based on the two Snorlax barring the player's progress in the Kanto-based games. In addition, Red's Pokémon Origins and Pokémon Adventures counterparts have been depicted with a Snorlax. Snorlax's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ultra Sun.

In addition, Red's Pokémon Adventures counterpart owns a Venusaur, while his Pokémon Generations counterpart is depicted with a Bulbasaur, the unevolved form of Venusaur. Venusaur's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

Pikachu is the player's first Pokémon in Pokémon Yellow. Pikachu would later act as Red's signature Pokémon as a non-player character in the core series games. Red is shown with a Gigantamax Pikachu in the TCG, with it being the first piece of media to depict Red's Pikachu Gigantamaxing.

In addition, Red's Pokémon Origins counterpart is depicted with an Articuno, while his Pokémon Adventures counterpart temporarily uses Green's Articuno during the manga. Articuno's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.
