Description | This highly talented Trainer is said to have acquired his Pokémon battling skills on a journey around Unova. He seems calm but actually hates losing. |
Hilbert (Japanese: トウヤ Touya) is a Pokémon Trainer in Pokémon Masters EX, based on the character of the same name in the core series games. He forms a sync pair with Oshawott and its evolutions, Dewott and Samurott. The sync pair can be obtained through the sync pair scout starting from September 24, 2019. The pair's potential can be upgraded to 6★ EX from March 22, 2021, which unlocks Hilbert's EX style.
Hilbert is also available in his fall attire designed to resemble a Mightyena, which he forms a sync pair with. This pair is available through a limited seasonal sync pair scout beginning on October 15, 2020. This pair is also capable of being upgraded to 6★ EX from when the pair was first released.
Hilbert also appears in his sygna suit, partnered with Genesect. This pair is available through a limited Poké Fair sync pair scout beginning on November 2, 2022. This pair is also capable of being upgraded to 6★ EX from when the pair was first released.

Hilbert has experienced similar events to his core series counterpart as the player character of Pokémon Black. Hilbert received his first partner Pokémon, Oshawott, from Professor Juniper. While on his journey, Hilbert formed rivalries with Cheren, Bianca, and N, and challenge the Battle Subway with Hilda. Hilbert would also encounter and put a stop to Team Plasma's plans, such as them trying to use Victini's powers for themselves.[3] Eventually Hilbert would go on to disbanded Team Plasma. After disbanding Team Plasma, Hilbert caught a Kyurem at Giant Chasm. During Hilbert's journey, he caught a Mightyena.
At some point, Hilbert's original Samurott had an Egg while at a Pokémon Day Care, which would later hatch into an Oshawott. Hilbert decided to bring this Oshawott with him to Pasio.[4]
Oshawott → Dewott → Samurott
Oshawott can evolve into Dewott once it has reached level 30 through its sync pair story Oshawott's Evolution, and then into Samurott once it has reached level 45 through its sync pair story Dewott's Evolution.

During the Unova chapter of the Villain Arc, Hilbert is revealed to own a Kyurem, which he fuses with N's Zekrom to avoid Ghetsis doing the same with his own Kyurem. Afterwards, Hilbert entrusts his Kyurem with N, who forms a sync pair with it.

Trivia
- Hilbert is based on the player character in Pokémon Black, as Cheren and Alder both have flashbacks to him having clashed with N over their ideologies, and N says that he met Zekrom before meeting Reshiram.
- In the story event The Ideal Formula, it is revealed that Hilbert was searching for N during the events of Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 because N left him so suddenly that he didn't have a chance to say goodbye.
- In his sync pair story, Hilbert reveals that the Oshawott he brought to Pasio was hatched from an Egg he found after he left his original Samurott at a Pokémon Day Care.
- All versions of Hilbert use special voice-over lines upon entering a team that contains certain Trainers (regardless of their partner Pokémon). Those Trainers include Hilda, Cheren, Bianca, Nate, Rosa, Alder, and N.
- Hilbert also uses special voice-over lines upon winning a battle with Hilda, Cheren, Bianca, Nate, Rosa, or N in the same team.
- As revealed in a Pokémon Center conversation, Hilbert has a fear of ghosts.[8]
- Sygna Suit Hilbert & Genesect's passive skill Hilbert's Plan references the Drives that can be used to change the type of Genesect's Techno Blast in the core series games.
- Unlike the core series games, however, Genesect does not change its form when changing the type of Techno Blast, instead remaining in its base form.
- Genesect first appears in Team Plasma's hideout during the Unova chapter of the Villain Arc, from which it is freed by N. After being treated at the Pokémon Center, it teams up with Hilbert, later forming a proper sync pair with him.
- Hilbert's Kyurem may be a reference to the Kyurem that is catchable during the post-game of Black and White. In addition, Hilbert's Be the Best! Pokémon B+W counterpart is also depicted with a Kyurem.
Origin
Hilbert's design is based on his appearance in Pokémon Black and White. Oshawott is one of the first partner Pokémon of Unova in the core series games. In addition, Hilbert's Pocket Monsters BW: Meetings with the Legends counterpart is depicted with Oshawott and its evolutions. Oshawott and Samurott's Dex entries come from Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, and Dewott's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Black.
Hilbert is not seen to own a Mightyena outside this game. Mightyena's Dex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby.
Genesect is an event-exclusive Mythical Pokémon that was introduced in Generation V, just like Hilbert was, though Genesect was first distributed in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, in which Hilbert did not appear. Genesect's Dex entry comes from Pokémon White.
