Mount Lanakila (Japanese: ラナキラマウンテン Lanakila Mountain) is the tallest mountain in Alola, located on Ula'ula Island. It is located north of Tapu Village and its peak is the site of Alola's newly established Pokémon League. While the area is initially under construction, the construction will be complete by the time the player has ended the situation with Lusamine in Ultra SpaceSM or has completed all of their island challenge trialsUSUM, creating Alola's Victory Road (Japanese: チャンピオンロード Champion Road).
After the player has completed all of their trials, NanuSM/HapuUSUM tells them that in the past, prior to the establishment of the Pokémon League, Mount Lanakila was the location of the final trial, where, similar to the Elite Four, a Trainer had to defeat all four island kahunas in a row in order to become the island challenge champion.
Crabrawler will evolve into Crabominable if leveled up here, and an Ice Rock is present inside the mountain's cave, which will cause Eevee to evolve into Glaceon if leveled up inside. In Pokémon Sun and Moon, the player could not enter Mount Lanakila at all until defeating Lusamine. In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, however, the player can access the base of the mountain and the tall grass now present there as soon as they first reach Tapu Village, allowing them to level up and evolve their Crabrawler much earlier than in Sun and Moon.

Mount Lanakila's peak in the anime
Mount Lanakila was first mentioned in Lillie's Egg-xhilarating Challenge!, where Lillie received an Egg found there from Samson Oak.
The mountain made its physical debut in Getting a Jump on the Competition!, where it was the site of the Pokémon Sled Jump Games, which Ash, Kiawe, Lillie, and Hala participated in. While preparing for the event, Hala evolved his Crabrawler into Crabominable, and Lillie, with the help of the expert PokéSled Jumper Cerah and her Alolan Ninetales, taught Snowy how to use Aurora Veil. The competition ended with Hala's victory.
In Not Caving Under Pressure!, Ash and his classmates, on their way back from Hokulani Observatory, took a shortcut through caves that ran under Mount Hokulani and Mount Lanakila. However, they were separated after a clash between Kiawe's Marowak and Turtonator caused an explosion. On their way to rejoin their friends, Lillie, Mallow, and Sophocles ran into a small group of wild Alolan Sandshrew, led by a larger Sandshrew, which were being driven from their territory by a wild Tyranitar. After being caught in the middle of battle, Lillie and Snowy teamed up with the leader Sandshrew and were able to drive off the Tyranitar. In the process of repairing the cave, Sophocles's Charjabug found an Ice Stone, which the leader Sandshrew used to evolve into Sandslash. This caused the group to realize that the cave was in fact an Ice Stone mine where Sandshrew come to evolve, as well as to wonder if the large Sandslash was in fact a Totem Pokémon. The grateful Sandslash then gave Lillie an Icium Z.
Mount Lanakila reappeared a flashback in The Dealer of Destruction! while Olivia described it as an old, abandoned part of the island challenge tradition where Trainers who had completed their grand trials battled each other at the summit.
Mount Lanakila reappeared again in Pikachu's Exciting Adventure!, where Ash's Pikachu, Rowlet, Lycanroc, and Meltan traveled to its summit using Ash's Ultra Guardian Ride Garchomp to look for their missing Trainer. They rode down the mountainside on a PokéSled, falling off of it midway through and rolling down the rest of the way in a big snowball, eventually landing in the sea.
Mount Lanakila was mentioned in Leaping Toward the Dream!, where Goh's first mission in Project Mew was revealed to be catching an Alolan Ninetales on Mount Coronet, where it had wound up after being forcibly taken away from its home at Mount Lanakila by Pokémon poachers. Goh eventually managed to convince Ninetales to let him catch it, and in Trial on a Golden Scale!, it was safely returned to its home by Danika and Quillon.
Pokémon found on Mount Lanakila
In addition to these Pokémon, an Alolan Diglett and a Gumshoos were also mentioned to be amongst the Pokémon seen here.
In the manga
Pokémon Adventures
Mount Lanakila's peak in Pokémon Adventures
Mount Lanakila served as the site of the arc's climax, first appearing in Ray of Light!! Through the Crack in the Sky!. Sina, Dexio, Lillie, and Samson Oak encountered Zygarde at the summit after it had used the Reassembly Unit on Route 16 to turn into its Complete Forme. Soon after, Sun, Moon, and Lusamine fell onto the mountain from an Ultra Wormhole that had opened above it while they had pursued Necrozma from Ultra Megalopolis. Moon fell unconscious on impact, and was subsequently found by Ryuki, who took her to Aether Paradise.
Using a locket that Mina had received from Mohn during her travels, Lillie was able to convince Lusamine that her husband hadn't abandoned her, like she had thought, and make her separate herself from the Nihilego she had fused with. The fusion had left her weak, however, so while Sun sent out his Pokémon to battle Necrozma, Sina, Dexio, and Lillie headed to take her to a hospital. Along the way, they were attacked by Plumeria, who had disguised herself as Moon and been sent there by Faba in order to kill Lusamine and ensure that her family would stay unhappy and broken as revenge for Lusamine having rejected his lustful obsession of her once. Lillie was able to defeat Plumeria's Salazzle with her Cutiefly and tell her that Guzma was safe, convincing her to stop the attack.
While the battle against Necrozma raged on at the summit, the Trial Captains and most island kahunas headed to Mount Lanakila aboard Sophocles and Molayne's Vikavolt airship to join the battle, but they were forced to land when they were attacked by a group of Aether Foundation Employees wielding Ultra Beasts. They proceeded to battle the Ultra Beasts, defeating them with a series of Z-Moves they had been practicing on Exeggutor Island.
In Transcend!! Ultra Necrozma!, Necrozma suddenly turned into its Ultra form after absorbing the Ultranecrozium Z that Dulse had been carrying. Solgaleo also joined the fight alongside Zygarde soon afterwards, but was defeated. The tide turned when Moon returned alongside Lunala, joining the battle and using a Max Revive on Solgaleo. With a combination attack from Solgaleo, Lunala, and Zygarde, Necrozma was defeated, just as Looker and Anabel arrived on the mountain. Sun gave Anabel a Beast Ball in order to catch Necrozma, but she believed that humanity could not be entrusted with Necrozma's power. As such, she decided to lie to her superiors that her mission to catch Necrozma had failed, ignoring Looker's objections, and gave the Beast Ball to the Ultra Recon Squad instead, with Zossie using it to catch Necrozma. With Necrozma caught, the Ultra Beasts around Alola sensed that the threat to them had passed and started heading home through the wormhole above the mountain.
